Memphis, Tennessee is where Kim Trammell was born and raised and where she started playing drums at age seven. In her formative years, Kim joined the junior high band and flourished all the way through high school. After graduating from Briarcrest High School in Memphis, Kim accepted a full music scholarship to the University of Memphis where she was a member of the award winning, PASIC drumline, The Mighty Sound of the South Marching Band, the University Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble. She received her Bachelors of Music degree with a concentration in Classical Percussion Performance.
After college, Kim immersed herself in the colorful and rich Memphis music scene, quickly establishing herself as an 'A' list drummer. "When I first hit the scene, I was blessed to be welcomed and accepted by the seasoned players, most of whom aren't really hip to working with the younger crowd, especially a female drummer. I was very fortunate."
Since 1990, Kim has played over 5,000 gigs and has firmly established herself as a powerhouse of a drummer - and a woman!
Kim uses DW Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Evans Heads and Vic Firth Sticks.
